A loan of $7,000 helps cover startup costs, installations, and essential storage needs for a Puerto Rico based smart locker business.

John's story
I have always been searching for practical ideas that make everyday life easier for people; I am a “simple does best” type of person. During my years outside of Puerto Rico, I noticed that well-placed lockers helped residents move more freely through their cities and enjoy public spaces without worrying about their belongings. It was a simple yet elegant solution to everyday concerns in urban, communal, and public spaces. That experience stayed with me. When I returned home, I saw how much a solution like this could give a higher quality of life to students, workers, families, and visitors in Puerto Rico.
El Box Caribe grew out of that realization. I wanted to build something that responds directly to real, daily needs: safety, convenience, and the freedom to enjoy our beaches, parks, campuses, and community events without stress. Every locker we place removes a small barrier that keeps people from fully using the places they value.
What drives me is seeing how a straightforward service can improve quality of life, strengthen local spaces, and make the island more livable and enjoyable. This project is more than a business for me, as it is a way to contribute something practical to my community and to help modernize the public experience in Puerto Rico through an accessible, easy-to-engage-with tool that anyone can use.
