Mrs. AISSATOU is the president of the group AVEC TEDDOUGAL, a peulh language name meaning "courtesy". She is the 52-year-old widowed grandmother of six grandchildren ages 1 to 9 years old, two of whom go to school. Like the other members of her group, she is a livestock farmer. This new loan will benefit all members of this group of 18 ladies, who plan to buy sheep and goats.
Aissatou has substantial experience of this work, which she has been practicing for 30 years. Her dream is to become a great farmer in her native village. She is educated, and she also engages in small trade as a sideline. She wants all her other grandchildren to also go to school as they grow up.
Aissatou buys and sells her animals at the local weekly markets. Her earnings allow her to cover the tuition fees and medical expenses of her grandchildren.
