A loan of $775 helps a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Gladys' Group's story

Gladys, pictured above, has been a farmer for 10 years, and is now proud to represent her group of 8 farmers in Matete District. She is 38 years old and has 2 children.

Gladys likes to think of herself as a very experienced farmer. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2018 and decided to represent her group because she likes being a leader. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Gladys plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Gladys’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 11.5 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 1 solar light.

In this group: Gladys, Maria, Stellah, Mary, Grace, Tafawa, Zainabu, Sarah

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
